     "VOIZNOIZ" is the first solo album by soundartist Michel Banabila
     since the release of "Des Traces Retrouvees" (1985). In the past
     Banabila has worked with EAST MEETS WEST, BYZANTIUM and OMAR KA. In
     addition he frequently teams up with multi-instrumentalist YASAR
     SAKA. A critically well acclaimed compilation CD under the title
     "Desert Dreamfields" featuring impressive material from
     Banabila/Saka saw the light of day throughout Europe in 1998. Also
     the album "A Living Thing" was released last year; a compilation
     featuring brilliant new work.

     In order to create the basis for VOIZNOIZ Banabila sampled just
     VOICES which were recorded on the streets and inside stations and
     buildings in multi-cultural Rotterdam (Holland) and Sana'a (Yemen),
     These voices are integrated in Banabila's music in a fascinating
     way. While selecting and manipulating the voices, Banabila's main
     focus was on the character and the sound of the voices instead on
     the literal meaning of the words. By putting the voices into a
     different framework, a new, sometimes hilarious, kind of
     "Babylonian" language came to surface which can be interpreted
     differently by each individual listener. The voices have been
     manipulated by digital electronics in a special way so they can not
     be recognized as the original ones anymore. The various acoustics
     in the recording locations give the music a cinematic dimension and
     feeling. Banabila's intrigueing use of his own voice predominates
     in allmost all of the songs.

     Guest mucisians do include singer Ali Bahia El Idrissi
     (Banabila/Saka), singer Tanar Catalpinar (East Meets West), Hanyo
     van Oosterom (Byzantium, Flying Dutchman), Chris Grem (Cobraz),
     Hans Greeve (Banabila/Saka, Rick de Vito) and Remko Deyl (Omar Ka).

     The music on VOIZNOIZ sounds like a crossover between ambient and
     triphop coupled with oriδntal influences. The absurdistic character
     of VOIZNOIZ gives an alienating and disorientating effect, but
     offers at the same time a feeling of warmth and a sence of security
     to the listener.
