Worldwide Totalitarian Control was conceived upon waking up way too
early on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 and hearing "We're under
attack, they blew up the World Trade Center in New York." coming at
me on the other end of the phone. It took me a few days to sort
everything out that happened to me during that 24 hour period (the
aftermath and the literal 24 hours I spent awake on 9/11/01). I
decided, rather than make what I would consider a knee-jerk reaction
to the events (and no offense to some of the great tracks that
started circulating within 24 hours of the event) I'd absorb
everything since I knew this was a major turning point in the world.
Am I ever glad I waited.
Worldwide Totalitarian Control was researched and constructed over a
three year period (the master being sent in right before the three
year anniversary of 9/11). Knowing only an inkling of kind of
control going on in the world, I like, pretty much everyone else I
knew, took 9/11 at face value. My further research has proven to
open my eyes to a great deal of information. Kind of learning that
"more than meets the eye" was going on. While I'm wise enough to not
believe *everything* I read, I see enough overlapping evidence to
support a great deal of information I've uncovered.
The EP is themed after a theory called "Problem-Reaction-Solution"
that has been explained by people such as David Icke, Alex Jones and
other researches into the 9/11 events. In fact, "Problem-Reaction-
Solution" has been going on throughout the world for quite some
time. Basically, if one wants to make changes in society that would
typically be overruled by the general public... one covertly creates
a problem (ie. planes smashing into buildings and thousands of
innocent people murdered), the society at large reacts (ie.
something must me done!) and the 'solution' is the change in society
that the public now blindly accepts as their "safety shield". It
almost sounds cliche to say this after all of the research I've
done, but the events of 9/11 are classic "Problem-Reaction-
Solution". What has resulted from 9/11? Well, personal freedoms have
been brutalized... the Bill of Rights has been raided... and do you
feel any safer? I sure don't.
Musically, this was hard for me to tackle. "Problem" samples from
numerous field recordings and documentaries to splice together the
confusion, destruction and death that must have been in the hearts
and minds of the people who actually were there and survived.
"Reaction (Human)" is based upon the various reactions that were
captured by individuals the day of the event and in the weeks and
months after. "Reaction (Official)" is based upon the "orange alert"
way of life that has resulted and attempts to 'read between the
lines' by using the actual words of George W. Bush, both in and out
of context. "Solution" doesn't really offer much of a solution, more
a warning... as to where things are headed if humankind, as a whole,
doesn't realize what is happening.
I'm sure I'll get the litany of "Why do you hate America?" questions
after releasing this out into the world. I don't "hate America", I
actually like the idea of this country and that is exactly why I'm
releasing this EP. Besides, I already believe that the real control
of this world doesn't adhere to 'national boundaries', but, that's
something that will be tackled in a further release.
Stylistically, I was really fond of the slimline EP case we used for
the 15 Degrees Below Zero EP, so I wanted that for this release.
Davyd at Insect Aesthetic did a fine job of graphically representing
the feel of this and it translated very well to the design of the
whole package here. The use of George W. Bush's image, though cliche
to some, was appropriate in my opinion; even though the problem-
reaction-solution of 9/11 goes far, far beyond Bush or even the Bush
Administration.
