████ Jamaica) - a style he probably originated. Fame ████
████ didn't fall into his lap when he started out in ████
████ the business at 21. But his unique style and ████
████ delivery made him a household name overnight ████
████ where at the height of his fame it was not ████
████ unusual to hear his new style of deejaying and ████
████ catchphrases flooding the airwaves. ████

████ Ripton Hilton aka Eek-A-Mouse was born in ████
████ Kingston, Jamaica in 1957. Ripton started his ████
████ career playing for various sound systems and ████
████ releasing the occasional single. Back then he ████
████ was considered more of a roots artist. He ████
████ established himself by doing shows in his local ████
████ community of Kingstown (an area in notorious ████
████ Trench Town). In the mid-70's Ripton released ████
████ two singles "My Father's Land" and "Creation". ████
████ Neither songs made any real impact in the music ████
████ circles but a keen and hungry Ripton carried on ████
████ regardless. ████
████ ████
████ In 1979 Ripton Hylton changed his name to ████
████ Eek-A-Mouse. Ripton consistently lost money on ████
████ a horse named Eek-A-Mouse that never seemed ████
████ able to finish a race. He gave up and decided ████
████ not to place any more bets and inevitably the ████
████ losing horse won the race. His friends teased ████
████ him and gave him the new nickname, which stuck ████
████ with him. Later in 1979 he recorded "Once A ████
████ Virgin" at Joe Gibbs studio plus the first ████
████ version of "Wa Do Dem" and "Modelling Queen". ████
████ ████
████ The whole of Jamaica was talking about his ████
████ weird word styling and unusual vocal sound ████
████ effects, which was so fresh and new. By 1981 he ████
████ was a hot commodity and successfully headlined ████
████ the annual Reggae Sunsplash festival. It was a ████
████ memorable show, people were still mourning the ████
████ passing of Bob Marley and Eek-A-Mouse came ████
████ along like a breath of fresh air and lifted the ████
████ spirit of the whole festival. 1982 was the year ████
████ of Eek-A-Mouse. More success and hits followed ████
████ when he met Henry "Junjo" Lawes. He re-recorded ████
████ "Wa Do Dem" and it became one of the biggest ████
████ selling singles of that year. "Wa Do Dem" ████
████ stayed at the No. 1 spot in Jamaica for 7 weeks ████
████ while simultaneously a hit in the UK reggae ████
████ charts. He had a slew of hit tunes including ████
████ "Ganja Smuggling", "Noah?s Ark" and "Operation ████
████ Eradication" which was inspired by the death of ████
████ a friend and fellow DJ Errol Scorcher. ████

████ The debut album "Wa-Do-Dem" (the biggest ████
████ selling album in the Greensleeves reissue ████
████ titles to date) followed. Mouse did two albums ████
████ "Skidip" and "The Mouse And The Man", both ████
████ produced by Linval Thompson on the Greensleeves ████
████ label, before a final musical outing with ████
████ dancehall producer "Junjo" Lawes. "Mouseketeer" ████
████ was released in 1984. It included several hits ████
████ "Queen Elizabeth", "Star, Daily News or ████
████ Gleaner" and the popular "How I Got My Name". ████
