candela / bitasweet finally unleash afronaught's monster tune
"carnaval" - the first taster from the bugz and puerto rico's
candela crew 'hecho en casa' series. - a project born out of
afronaughtÆs recent trips to puerto rico.
afronaught's hyper-active production captures the spirit of this
traditional puerto rican 'plena' brilliantly, while bringing a
distinctly uk dance floor feel to the track. a full album is set
to be released on candela / bitasweet records early next year and
this track captures the idea behind the project in it's essence by
balancing perfectly the vibe of puerto rico with contemporary
british production.
originally recorded with a highly talented local band son de batey
in san juan, puerto rico who are known for playing traditional
plena & rumba. afronaught has taken a traditional puerto rican
sound with a vocal chant and given it a heavy twist.
causing chaos at the co-op night in london and venues worldwide.
