stephane lefrancois (aka blissom) :
since the international success of spot records' first release,
blissom & merkin's tag team triangle, blissom has become a favorite
favorite deejay in toronto and a respected producer worldwide.
in addition to his residency at the nasa dance pub, he also plays
at element, system sound bar, the now lounge, and the living room.
a consummate crowd-pleaser, his aggressive mixing style moves the
crowd by taking it on a journey through his musical mind. employed
as a recording engineer in a large toronto studio, blissom carries
much of his studio knowledge over into his deejay sets, and his
knowledge and passion for music can be felt throughout.
eric vani (aka rise ashen):
rise ashen's infatuation with sampling began when he started
breakdancing to the early hip-hop in the streets of montreal in
the eighties. "looped grooves were the sounds that i grew up
with... my rolling stones were the furious five."
a multi-instrumental artist-producer based in ottawa, ontario,
he has worked with dozens of artists as a producer, engineer and
re-mixer, was a classical music recording engineer at the famed
banff centre for the arts, and is a graduate of fanshawe college's
recording engineering program. last year he released urban fugues,
his first solo album.
a devout music lover, ashen feeds on diverse musical traditions.
"i love to listen to anything new that i can get my hands on.
listening to new records is like watching the sky at night: it
quickly reminds me of how small we are and how narrow-minded we
can sometimes be."
