Connie Harvey simply has one of those voices.
Equally suited to House as much as gospel, her
vocal stylings walk a jazzy line; sublimely
soulful with just the right amount of rough grit
summoned up from deep down inside. She can move a
dancefloor into a funky frenzy, inspiring raised
hands, hoots and hollers and joyful, soulful,
outbursts.
Soulfuric is pleased to present Connie's latest
effort ôThank You Lordö which has come about
through the collaborative efforts of Adam Unsworth
and Graham Lord and label head Brian Tappert.
Originally produced by Peter Rahofer and Remixed
by Victor Simonelli (as Beat 4 Feat) and released
on Gig Records (and later, Bassline Records) in
1994, the track has always been a favorite of the
Soulfuric family, and a staple in Tappert's live
sets.
It almost seems a twist of fate that brought Adam
Unsworth and Graham Lord together with Harvey .
While listening to a demo instrumental track from
Graham and Adam, Tappert began digging for
acapellas to lay on top and Connie Harvey's ôThank
You Lordö was the first record he pulled out. The
reaction from the the guys was immediately: "WOW!"
Graham and Adam's mix is a smooth affair all the
way, with a delicate guitar line that floats
through the entire track. The Jazz-N-Groove dub,
meanwhile, stirs the pot with a fuzzy-Funkadelic
effects-laden keyboard track and a fat bass line
that, together with Harvey 's rough-yet-sweet
delivery, will slay any dancefloor.
Harvey is thrilled to see the track get a new
lease on life, evidence of the original
production's strength. "It still sounds great
today", Connie exclaims. "The new mix sounds
wonderful! It's allowed me to get back out there
and do what I love û sing about the Lord. This is
a blessing, and working with Brian and Marc at
Soulfuric is a blessing."
