Like the warmth of an improvised cocktail relaxing your toes to
tapping the rich rippling vibes of Burnt Friedman's Con Ritmo seeps
smoothly through your consciousness, its latin rhythms proving
pleasantly intoxicating. In the past year Cologne's Friedman has
released through Ninja Tunes, (with good friend Atom Heart), as
Flanger and on ~Scape with the Nu Dub Players, his latest work he
has chosen to release through his own Nonplace label. Recorded with
the Disposable Rhythm Section while travelling through South
America, Con Ritmo has all the proximity of a night club gently
pulsating with the latin passion for rhythm inflexed here with a
potent combo of jazz dub electronica.
Compressed bass, (no doubt courtesy of Bernie the Bolt's latest
creation, Humphrey X-34, the "Bass-Bot"), tumbles across the
seductive flux of Friedman's vibrophonic concoctions and the
Section gel with near telepathic congregation.
Con Ritmo instills a desire to become a part of the world
responsible for it's creation, to inhabit the dark halls from
whence the music came. Graciously if only for it 45 minute duration
Con Ritmo goes someway to making it so.
