| With their new album Filthy Souls, Secret Broadcast has arrived |
| to rescue rock nÆ roll. |

| Not that the genre is necessarily on life support, but there has |
| been a definite shortage in the number of intense, guitar-driven |
| melodic rock bands who actually write accessible songs that |
| matter; topically universal songs that make you think, feel and |
| move. Singer, guitarist and songwriter Matt Lightstone, who |
| anchors the Toronto-based band with drummer Keith Heppler, kept |
| that objective in mind when writing the dozen songs for this |
| record. |

| And that vision was secured with the involvement of Seattle- |
| based, 3-time Grammy-winning producer Adam Kasper (Foo Fighters, |
| Nirvana, Queens Of The Stone Age, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam.) |
| ôWorking with Adam was incredible,ö says Lightstone. ôHe really |
| pushed us to get the most out of every song. He had a lot of |
| great ideas and encouraged us to record the songs live, which I |
| think helps make it sound like a rock record. We captured most |
| of the basic tracks off-the-floor in one or two takes and I |
| think you can feel the energy in the room when you listen back.ö |
| |
| The recording sessions took place in Seattle at Robert Lang |
| Studios, where Nirvana recorded their last song, ôYou Know |
| YouÆre Right,ö before Kurt Cobain committed suicide in 1994, and |
| the site where Dave Grohl continued his career with the Foo |
| FightersÆ first record. To add to the adventurous element, the |
| studio is supposedly haunted. ôI donÆt believe in ghosts, but |
| I will admit that it definitely had a spooky vibe at timesö says |
| Lightstone. ôKeith in particular, had quite a few interesting |
| moments where the lights were slowly fading on and off in his |
| bedroom, which is why he ended up sleeping most nights with the |
| TV on.ö |

| Originally from Calgary, Secret Broadcast now call Toronto their |
| home. They have cut their teeth opening for acts including |
| Metric, Tokyo Police Club, The Stills and Matthew Good, playing |
| main stage at Virgin Festival, showcasing at CMJ, NXNE, CMW, |
| JunoFest and even playing a private party for Richard Branson. |
| TheyÆve also been a mainstay on Canadian radio hitting top 40 on |
| the Canadian rock, alternative and college radio charts. |
| |
| With the release of this new record, æFilthy SoulsÆ, they have |
| created a sound of their own that combines guitar-driven melodic |
| rock songs with Brit-pop inspired sonic textures. Bear witness |
