MON can practice restraint perhaps more efficiently than even the strongest
protagonist of any British period film. The 2011 follow up release from the
band's eponymous debut was highly anticipated from fans, as MON took ample time
with its preparation and production. While many other eager post-rock acts
continuously spat out a barrage of mediocre releases MON just sat, ostensibly
idle. Sikfor Harenstrⁿp in 326 ╪llegσrt is the absolute perfect record to follow
the band's silence. It's a release that's thick with brilliant and innovative
instrumental rock music. The songs structures include traditional post-rock
motifs augmented with contrasting orchestral arrangements that breathe life into
the genre. Rather than being a rock band that incorporates a few classical
instruments to add an air of sophistication to the proceedings, MON often sounds
like the reverse, a classical band that incorporates rock instrumentaion to
inject energy into its compositions.
Whatever the case, Sikfor is another smash hit from this Parisian delight.
