This is a promo CD sent out by Metropolis.. but
it looks like it will be the final album. :)
Juno Reactor is back after a short break with
their 2000 album. It has last year's single
Pistolero on it... I didn't really enjoy that
single as much as I like other JR stuff, so
thankfully the whole album isn't like that.
This album has a few tracks like the JR of old
with high pace and really spacey sounds, but
its also very ambient and tribal at times.
Oh, and about the title of the album... I did
a bit of research, and Shango is the name given
to the God Of Thunder for a Nigerian African
tribe. He originally was a warlord who gained the
secret of fire. He first tried to use it, but
only succeeded in burning down his fortress, but
then when the enemies attacked, he used it to
fight them off. His symbol is the 2-bladed axe,
since his fire "cuts both ways" and can be both
self destructive and self preserving. Legends
say that he can now summon lightning at will. It
wasn't clear how he went from mastering fire to
being the God of Thunder.. but hey, its a good
story!
This release is for all the MS members who have
done amazing psy releases throughout the years.
I've loved every last one of them and now I
finally get to make a psy release of my own :)
