███▓ Erick Sermon, one half of the legendary rap duo EPMD, has ▓███
███▓ joined the J Records family. Having created his own ▓███
███▓ trademark sound, Erick Sermon remains one of hip-hop's most▓███
███▓ vital forces. Currently, he tops the Billboard R&B chart ▓███
███▓ with "Music," a song which has fast become one of radio's ▓███
███▓ most played singles and features the rare vocals of Marvin▓███
███▓ Gaye. "Music," among other songs already being recorded with▓███
███▓ artists such as Redman, Scarface, and LL Cool J, will be ▓███
███▓ featured on Erick Sermon's first solo album for J Records ▓███
███▓ entitled The Sermon due out in early Fall. ▓███
███▓ ▓███
███▓ In addition, EPMD joins the J Records roster and production▓███
███▓ has begun on a new album for the reunited group. ▓███
███▓ Furthermore, J Records has inked a production deal with ▓███
███▓ Sermon's Def Squad Records and a producer deal for Erick ▓███
███▓ Sermon who will produce future songs for J Records artists. ▓███
███▓ ▓███
███▓ "All the years I have in this business I'm counting as ▓███
███▓ experience and now it's time to do WORK," comments ▓███
███▓ CEO/Producer/Artist/Entrepreneur Erick Sermon. "J Records is▓███
███▓ giving me a great opportunity and the knowledge, wisdom and▓███
███▓ skills of the people here at J - starting with the man on ▓███
███▓ top - will greatly enhance the Def Squad foundation." ▓███
███▓ ▓███
███▓ "We are thrilled to welcome Erick Sermon into the J Records▓███
███▓ family," comments J Records Chairman and CEO Clive Davis. ▓███
███▓ "Throughout the hip-hop era, Erick has been a major ▓███
███▓ trendsetter. Whether it's been with EPMD, Mary J. Blige, ▓███
███▓ D'Angelo, Xzibit, Eminem or Blackstreet, his skills have ▓███
███▓ always earned him the highest respect. He's on fire right ▓███
███▓ now with "Music" and we literally can't wait to introduce ▓███
███▓ everyone to the next chapter of The Sermon!" ▓███
███▓ ▓███
███▓ Bernard Alexander, General Manager of Def Squad, comments,▓███
███▓ "Already having a strong relationship with J Records through▓███
███▓ my clients Next and R.L., I knew that the label would be a▓███
███▓ great place for Erick and the Def Squad family and that ▓███
███▓ Erick had hit material for the label. And as I hoped, Clive▓███
███▓ and Erick really hit it off. This is going to be a great ▓███
███▓ situation for all of us." ▓███
███▓ ▓███
███▓ Erick Sermon aka the Green Eyed Bandit is among hip-hop's ▓███
███▓ most prominent producers and performers. Teamed with Parrish▓███
███▓ Smith to form EPMD, the group released four albums and ▓███
███▓ created numerous hip-hop classics, including "It's My ▓███
███▓ Thing," "You Gots to Chill" "So What You Sayin'," "Strictly▓███
███▓ Business" and "Crossover." Erick's trademark raw, bass heavy▓███
███▓ grooves and murky rap ushered in a new rap movement which ▓███
███▓ spawned stars such as Redman, Keith Murray and R&B star Dave▓███
███▓ Hollister. In 1993, Sermon began to fly solo, creating Def▓███
███▓ Squad Productions and becoming one of the genre's most ▓███
███▓ sought after producers and remixers. Recently, he has been▓███
███▓ collaborating recently with Xzibit, Method Man and Keith ▓███
███▓ Murray for their upcoming projects. ▓███
