Roland Voss (Lemongrass): "I originally got into music by way of
Rock. I started taking drumming lessons in 1974 and then began to
orient myself more toward Funk, Jazzrock and Free Jazz. Between
1975 and 1979 I played as a Jazz drummer in several different
bands. These bands were preeminently Jazz based and did some
experimentation with Bebop and the Big Band sound. My next step was
toward New Wave before I started getting into avant-garde sound
creations using electronic devices between 1983 and 1985."
Voss went on to found the Punk group "Klappstuhl (Folding Chair)"
and several dance music projects. Eventually he landed by the
independent Berlin guitar band "New Nations". It was in this band's
studio that he began to really start working with synthesizers,
samplers and computers. In his spare time he found himself getting
more and more interested in Hip Hop.
"Hip Hop breakbeats made it easier for me to get into the sounds
that were coming out of the UK in '92, while I found House and
Techno at this point totally boring."
In 1993 Voss' first CD was published with the title "Wuwei" under
the Project name of "Succa V". He was also busy in many other ways
at this time. Voss was producing music for advertisements, Djing
and giving drumming lessons.
The first Jungle productions from Voss hit the scene in 1994 under
the alias "Jungle-Moon" together with drummer Torsten K÷tter. Work
on the so-called "Spektakel" in Mⁿnster in July of 1996 and a
multimedia project with diverse artists under the leadership of
Dragan Lovrinovic cemented his place as a true artist.
In 1997 the debut Lemongrass track "Summertime" was released on the
"Submerged" compilation by the Incoming imprint. "Summertime" is a
Drum n' Bass cover of the classic tune complete with vocals and led
to the discovery of the Lemongrass project
1998 saw the release of the first Lemongrass album "Drumatic
Universe", which was very warmly received, especially in France,
for its melancholy atmosphere, Jazz influences and innovative beat
programming coupled with guitar, horns, and tabla samples. In
Autumn of the same year came the "Orbis" project which based its
sound on the many years of Voss' experience as a musician. The
fruits of this project can be considered a further step in the
creation of timeless pieces of audio art.

this ep contains two remixes of already known songs and two
tracks that never made it to any lemongrass cd or lp.
note: some beats of b1 sound a bit overridden and noisy. this
is part of the track and was intended that way, i guess. the record
is brandnew and in perfect condition and so is my needle. and yes, it
does sound like that when no computer is involved.
