     Versatile downtown New York percussionists Christine Bard,
     Michael Evans, and Jim Pugliese use found objects, traditional
     percussion instruments, and electronic effects to create a live
     (no overdubs) album that moves through myriad environments and
     styles. Their offerings span from "Freak Funk"'s wide grooves
     to the traditional, Far East-reminiscent quiet and
     water-immersed chimes of "Water Mirage," which is followed by a
     track that imitates the falling of rain or "Fresh Tears." With
     pieces ranging from 13 seconds to over 6 minutes, there are
     many moments of interest and beauty among these rhythm and
     timbre journeys. EasSide Percussion's self-titled debut is
     definitely recommended for fans of the eclectic.
