▓ In 1974, writer/producer Johnny Bristol launched his ▓
▓ career as a performer. That year's Hang On in There ▓
▓ Baby yielded classic singles with "You and I" and ▓
▓ also the title track. But 1975's Feeling the Magic ▓
▓ wasn't as successful, and Bristol left MGM for ▓
▓ Atlantic Records. Bristol's Creme is his Atlantic ▓
▓ debut album. If people were let down by the lack of ▓
▓ freshness and hooks on Feeling the Magic, changes ▓
▓ were immediately heard on this album, which is best ▓
▓ known for its first single, "Do It to My Mind." Sexy, ▓
▓ playful, and potent, "Do It to My Mind" is one of ▓
▓ Bristol's finest singles, if not one of the best from ▓
▓ the seductive and melodic genre from 1973-1977. "I ▓
▓ Sho Like Groovin' With Ya" is certainly close behind. ▓
▓ Everything's not great here, however. Even rare ▓
▓ groove fanatics might have to break camp with "I Love ▓
▓ Talkin' Bout Baby," easily one of the most droning ▓
▓ things in the Bristol catalog. Not surprisingly, ▓
▓ Bristol got one of the best tracks from a subject ▓
▓ matter he was adept with. Known for writing lyrics ▓
▓ about his deflowering techniques, "Love to Have a ▓
▓ Chance to Taste the Wine" has Bristol back to his ▓
▓ mΘtier with great results. Although this didn't have ▓
▓ a particularly successful run up the charts, ▓
▓ Bristol's Creme has been acknowledged as highly ▓
▓ sought-after effort and the work here is solid ▓
