The story of Metamatics starts in 1997 when Lee Norris and Dominic
Kennedy leave their first series maxis on the English label Clear.
Unload in the tread their first album "A Metamatics Production"
then occurs the separation caused by the departure of D.Norris one
year later , in l998. In the current of this same year Lee Norris
continuous his tour alone by connecting maximum ("Onyx"-Clear) and
another album entitled "Neo Ouija" on the Japanese label
P-Fortifies, republished the year following among English of
Hydrogen Dukebox. It will be necessary to wait two years before
seeing reappearing of new productions longitudinally format.
"Spook Tinsel Shoal" then marks the return album (always at
Hydrogen Dukebox) in addition to the three maxis come out the year
preceding on Clear then at District Six ("Dayglo Tinsel" and "Lo
Tinsel Workshop") whose this new album takes again the integrality
of the two EP'S, in more a new unreleased which will be used to
compose it. Let us specify that all the same could seem easy to
proceed in this manner so that this album is born, but should be
admitted that within sight of the quality of the pieces it is
always pleasant to find them compiled thus. In addition that does
not go without pointing out the discographic machinations of Boards
Of Canada which proceeded in an identical way...
Finally throughout these fifty two minutes of interior voyage the
mood of "Spook Tinsel Shoal" camps a electronica filled of delicacy
and easy to assimilate for the ears beginners. By the way, thanks
to this kind of musical steps this facet of electronica gains in
recognition with the image great flights of tablecloths and sweet
harmonies.
Lee Norris even manages to make us shiver happiness with the
positive melancholic person but "Toy Toy" and especially splendid
"For Brother" which sticks the head in the clouds to us. Just as
"Somekind" gets a true puff of oxygene.
