Long awaited official release for Mos Def's first ever
album alongside DCQ and CES...
Dropping way back in 1994, this album was lost at the
time, no doubt due to being too far ahead of the
game.... Its like a blueprint for all thats been good
in hip hop since the Rawkus revolution - from Commons
'Like Water...' and the Blackstar LP through to Kanye
West, Little Brother, and Talib Kweli.
A then-unknown Mos Def led a group featuring his
brother DCQ and sister CES to a record deal with
Payday Records, home of Jeru the Damaja, Show & AG,
and O.C. among others. Though it was never offically
released, "Manifest Destiny" was Urban Thermo
Dynamics' completed LP for Payday, featuring guest
production from Diamond D and Showbiz. Yet another
example of that irresistlble mid-nineties, bass heavy
sound, with a young and hungry Mos Def stealing the
show.
