yet another alias of scott herren, he brings together a 12" that
will be right up anyone's alley that is into the
schematic/chocolate industries sound that is really bringing
electronic music to new levels of complexity and enjoyment.
'estrocaro' takes hip-hop, takes it apart, and then puts it back
together again, with elements of the original sound remaining, but
totally re-constructed, and manipulated in order to reach a sound
unheard of ever before. for some reason, even though this sound is
familiar to the chocolate industries type material, it never gets
old.
it's a brilliant hybrid of really good electronic styling, with cut
up hip hop that just moves so smoothly. the first track, 'point to
b' starts off with a taste of what's to come, the samples arranged
roughly, creating a kind of electronic melee. then the song comes
into it's own, re-constructing itself, and then breaking off into
just a head bopping masterpiece. although the whole ep is great,
the first track and the fourth track 'living life' are the ones
that are constantly bumping in my head. rough and dirty, yet so
enjoyable.
i am dying for a full-length of this. warp says that the guest
spots on the full-length are going to be filled by: mf doom, sam
prekop, aesop rock, beans (from anti-pop consortium) and more. i
can't even imagine how good this album will be with these types of
collaborations. this has the workings to be the greatest crossover
album of all time! pick up 'estrocaro' at all costs. it has the
workings to be one of those rare releases that people will be
mortgaging their houses for, to get it on ebay in a few years.
