Continuing in the same vein as the first volume of this
fictional account of the porn industry, BOOGIE NIGHTS 2
is a mixed bag of near-forgotten hits and obscure gems
from the '70s. Writer-producer Paul Thomas Anderson
(who hand-picked all the music) fills out this second
volume with plenty of double entendres (Three Dog
Night's "Mama Told Me Not To Come"), kitschy disco (KC
& The Sunshine Band's "Boogie Shoes") and unmitigated
funk (Charles Wright's "Do Your Thing.") Anderson's
eclectic tastes turn BOOGIE NIGHTS 2 into a personal
mix-tape where songs by soap stars/teen heartthrobs
(Rick Springfield's "Jessie's Girl") rub shoulders with
proggy popsters (The Move's "Feel Too Good").
