│ Ornate drumming and gurgly trem picked guitar combine to form the │
│ core of Negurπ Bunget's sound on Zεrnindu-Sπ. The guitar melodies │
│ cycle rapidly through riffs with a predominantly chromatic character │
│ that fosters a sense of perpetual unease, never settling into a │
│ traditional harmonic accord with the listener's expectations. │
│ │
│ The drum track is spectacular -- intricately detailed and │
│ continually reworking itself while maintaining a tight coupling with │
│ the rhythm guitar. The contrast between the chaotic swirl of guitar │
│ and keyboard noise and Negru's delicate drum work is powerful and │
│ effective. │
│ │
│ The keyboard parts never detract from the other instruments, but │
│ occupy the sonic background with long, sustained chords. Hupogrammos │
│ Disciple's delivers vocals with a gravely rasp that's agreeable and │
│ typical of the black metal genere, occasionally punctuating the │
│ lyrics with stirring shrieks. The overall vibe is positive and warm, │
│ and the mix lends just enough clarity to the instrumentation of the │
│ various tracks to allow their quality to be appreciated. │

│ Negurπ Bunget would follow up Zεrnindu-Sπ with several similarly │
│ styled but progressively weaker releases, then veer into the │
│ post-black / avant garde genre in more recent times, with │
│ disappointing results. Zεrnindu-Sπ, in my opinion, represents the │
│ pinnacle of Negurπ Bunget's back catalogue, and is an exemplary │
│ black metal release. │
