on the hollow label with the third release of swedish label hollow
recordings, we find a broadening sound with some new funk from
quant. jonas quant is no newcomer to the jazz-funk electronic scene
having had releaes on dot recordings and remixed diverse artists
such as tosca for g stone, coldcut for ninja tunes. here he
produces a fusion of electro, funk, and jazz house with a
smattering of brazilian flavours. a jazzy vocoder wizard.
influenced by herbie hancock he has the funkiness of plaid, the
wamth of john beltran and a similar spaced out musical perception
to ian o'brien. kicking off with 'stimulous' - a groovy funk
infused smoker with a 70's feel immersed in shaking beat... flipped
by 'groove protocol' - jazzy electro blaster with some funky
keyboard driven magic with a hint of braziliance. and topped off
with a, 'pyjamas' - perfect way to end the evening with spacey
synthesized keys on this laid back jazz funker.
