from the mind of 20-year-old will holland comes this sublime
collection of cool jazzuality, downtempo groovers and occasional
dancefloor forays. bedroom productions are sounding more and more
complete as equipment gets cheaper and more accessible, but you
gotta have soul to make the whole exercise worthwhile. and
quanticÆs soul quantity is never in doubt on this album. plenty of
piano, plenty of strings and interesting vocal samples elaborate
the moods created by the (mostly shuffling) beats. the post-big
beat haze that has settled on brighton has faired well with this
label and whoÆs to say, with previous discovery bonobo now
entrenched in a multi-album deal with ninja tune, where these kind
of beats can lead you.
