░██ █ the track Shift. Mixing highly percussive elements, █ ██░
░██ █ with a driving bass line and a multitude of █ ██░
░██ █ undulating waves and sound sources, the track █ ██░
░██ █ builds into a stunningly intense crescendo. ItÆs █ ██░
░██ █ certainly clear that Radian revel in creating new █ ██░
░██ █ musical forms of expression. The opening bars of █ ██░
░██ █ Vertigo, point to their use of sampling various █ ██░
░██ █ improbable sound sources and using them to █ ██░
░██ █ garner attention for their minimal electronic █ ██░
░██ █ patterns. █ ██░
░██ █ █ ██░
░██ █ Juxtaposotion almost sounds like an improvised █ ██░
░██ █ live album at times, where the band are playing █ ██░
░██ █ their instruments by the most unconventional █ ██░
░██ █ means possible. However, whilst this approach █ ██░
░██ █ deserves to be applauded, not just for application, █ ██░
░██ █ but for the clarity and decisiveness of the mix, the █ ██░
░██ █ ultimate question remains û does it make for █ ██░
░██ █ enjoyable listening? And perhaps thatÆs where I █ ██░
░██ █ have a problem with Radian. For all their █ ██░
░██ █ inventiveness, studio aptitude and intelligent sound █ ██░
░██ █ manipulation û Juxtaposition is stunningly devoid █ ██░
░██ █ of melodic content, or even rhythm. In short, I find █ ██░
░██ █ the album a bit dull, which just goes to prove why █ ██░
░██ █ experimental electronic music is an audibly empty █ ██░
░██ █ carcass without that crucial injection of emotion. █ ██░
░██ █ █ ██░
░██ █ RadianÆs fragmented and hi-tech compositions █ ██░
░██ █ may confound you or leave you asking the █ ██░
░██ █ question ôhow?ö But the album rarely treads solid █ ██░
░██ █ ground, and without that there appears no basis █ ██░
░██ █ for communication with the listener. Cold and █ ██░
░██ █ distant, Juxtaposition proves hard work, despite █ ██░
░██ █ many positives. █ ██░
