from north east england to central london, bj robson, 26; writer,
musician, producer and inspiration behind the streetlife originals
project for paperecordings has been busy beating a path to musical
success and respect from his peers.
when he's not producing and writing lyrics for bands, remixing for
the likes of schooly d, dj rap, will smith and the egg, or putting
the finishing touches to his latest house release : solaris heights
(paperecordings & guidance) and east village headz (influence and
azuli) to name a few, bryan's been putting in the hours at his
studio working on the streetlife originals project.
such is bryan's approach to music, streetlife originals was borne
out of his desire to engineer his own refreshingly unique sound.
starting over 2 years ago, the projects aim were to esatblish an
eclectic blend of sample based music, laid back jazz, tied in with
cool lazy beats interspersed with subtle keys & strings.
SLO previous releases on paperecordings are "laras theme" and
"sidewalk stories" the former charted and used on mix compilations
by david morales, juan atkins and kerri chandler and played to
rapturous response in NYC clubs. having carefully built up his
reputation in britain's club scene through his out pourings of
quality house records and riding on a high from admirable reviews
in the british music press, bryan devised his biggest personal
project to date, the long player for paper; "sidewalk stories".
while bryan pays homage to his roots in northern club culture, he
proudly states sidewalk stories "is music people can party to, yet
at the same time recline, chill and unwind by. sidewalk stories "is
an album that reflects a life time of vinyl culture, hours spent in
studios drawing up drum loops, late nights eeking out the best
riffs and inspiration drawn from past masters of traditional and
latin jazz.
while streetlife originals is about music with a cool international
jazz flavour, it is also a retrospective concoction of cosmopolitan
beats and bryan's fascination with european cinema. considering the
merits of bryans ahcievements, you'd be amazed that his career is
only three years, a career that promises so much -- so you'd better
watch this space.
