welcome to the amalgamation of soundz' first 12" on compost
records. jean-claude and mark met each other in 1990. since
then they have been working together under the name, the
amalgamation of soundz, having already released plenty of
12"s on different labels such as filter, ubiquity and
airtight. they have both lived in london for many years and
are long-time members of the local underground dance scene,
and highly-rated dj's.
they have a current residency at fabric and play regularly
at bars and clubs such as the clinic, and met bar in london
as well as at many different clubs all over the planet.
their sets are renowned for their depth, scope and ever
present funk, taking in jazz, house and leftfield beats,
whilst always keeping the floor movin'! besides dj'ing and
producing, jean-claude works at release the groove records,
one of london's finest record shops. there he commands the
jazz and eclectic beats section, using his assurance and
encyclopaedic knowledge to persuade the punters to buy vinyl
on his terms. mark is a dentist with a practice in west
london. born in iran he sports an unusual haircut and could
be described as a chatterbox, were his partner anybody else
besides jc.....
the duo made their first exclusive contribution for compost
on the future sounds of jazz 7 compilation last year. for
compost 100 they came up with the awesome track 'guilty as
charged', a 135bpm car-chase that kicks off with eerie
ambience and a crackly telephone conversation taken from
some old gangster flick before the rolling breaks hammer in.
be prepared for some dancefloor craziness!
side a features the track 'alone' - dance music at its
best, a track which will appeal across the board - uplifting
beats, smooth acoustic guitar-picking, and vocals taking you
on a journey through your favourite places.
'ten scroats to a pound' is a nice relaxed, downbeat track
with some improvised jazzy piano play - one for the chilled
sessions.
