The year is 1991. Stockholm based hip-hop collective was fomed
around DJ Ski, Gordon Cyrus and Falcon. Dele 'Rock Ski' Shekoni,
Swedish hip-hop pioneer from the old break dance crew Ice Cold
Rockers (and sister of singer Kayo). Christian 'Falcon' Falk,
producer and former bassist of punk band Imperiet. Gordon Cyrus,
producer and dancer, who also later ran the classic retail store
Timebomb (later, Flavor) in St. Eriksplan, Stockholm. Flavor became
a focal point for Stockholm's early 90's hip-hop scene, and fun fact
is that DJ Sleepy was another of the store co-owners.
Record label WEA signed Timebomb, and released three 12-inch
singles. 18-year old emcee phenomenon A.D.L.'s "That's What I'm Here
For", the radio hit "You Guess The Theme" with 3 Pieces Of A Puzzle
(which included Aaron Phiri and Mad Mats), and Swing Fly's "Smoke Em
Swing". While things seemed to be working well, the Timebomb crew
soon dissolved, and their recordings fell into obscurity. However,
most of the members reunited through Cyrus and Ski's Breaking Bread
label a couple of years later.
