│ release info │
└──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
│ │
│ Ever since her first single dropped in limited release overseas, │
│ weirdo DJs have been itching for MIA tracks. Yet what's so great │
│ about the girl is that her music isn't made for folks who scour │
│ online UK record shops like crack fiends- MIA is for the people. │
│ This Diplotronix mixtape makes that clear, placing Maya's │
│ originals in the all-too-fitting context of dancehall, │
│ reggaeton, southern rap, favela funk, and grime, like some │
│ worldwide tour of 'people's choice' jams. As expected, the │
│ blends are shit-hot - freestyles and remixes of 'Push It,' │
│ 'Freaks,' dead prez, a crazy 'Headsprung' reworking, and more. │
│ Girl is set to blow up, and deservedly so- you won't go wrong │
│ copping this CD right now (plus, the dude who designs all the │
│ Dipset mixtapes handled the cover art). 21 tracks in all. │
