   :  This is the third in the series of yearly compilations   :
   :  from Spanish independent label Acuarela. The concept is  :
   :  for the artist to create a piece of music that           :
   :  incorporates the concept or word 'acuarela' or           :
   :  watercolor (aquarelles, wasserfarben...) in the song,    :
   :  its title or to have the sound embody the idea.          :
   :                                                           :
   :  Apart from this concept, another unifying factor in the  :
   :  compilation is the independent nature of the works       :
   :  themselves, (I hesitate at making this correlation so    :
   :  blatant, however most of the time it rings true and      :
   :  also to clarify: more often than not, I prefer it.       :
   :  That is to say, the production is generally low-fi.      :
   :  I mention this aspect of the recordings because it       :
   :  lends a specific atmosphere to the theme.                :
   :                                                           :
   :  The more I listen to DISC ONE of this compilation, the   :
   :  more I enjoy it as a whole. DISC TWO is a little more    :
   :  poppy maybe a bit more noisy for my taste, although the  :
   :  DESTROYER track is very good. This compilation has       :
   :  specifically turned me on to the sounds of ARBOL the     :
   :  new face of ex-Piano Magic Miguel Marφn, ANARI, LOUD,    :
   :  TEX La HORNA, and RIVULETS.                              :
   :                                                           :
   :  The roster of old and trustwortly artists is long:       :
   :  PIANO MAGIC, JULIE DOIRON, DECEMBERISTS, CHRIS BROKAW,   :
   :  TARA JANE O'NEILL, BERG SANS NIPPLE, TARENTEL, and ANT.  :
   :                                                           :
   :  I suppose its trite to call this material 'suicidal      :
   :  pop' however, it puts one in the proper frame of mind    :
   :  for this project. Musically it arranges from rock,       :
   :  indie-pop, and electronica to neo-folk and country.      :
   :                                                           :
   :  As a whole, the compilation is based around more         :
   :  acoustic sounds than electronic ones. A few of the       :
   :  tracks concern that 3am feeling in the absence of a      :
   :  loved one, whether or he or she will come back, the      :
   :  aftereffects of an emotion stretched to its breaking     :
   :  point. This is the overall mood of the project. It       :
   :  provides comfort for those times when you feel as if     :
   :  your world is coming apart.                              :
