Ilkay started djing in 1996 at a radio station called Night
and Day in Ankara. Those days he was mainly working on
publicity and production. The first mix sets that Ilkay
geared up were House mixes that he did for the radios
Wednesday Night Show. As he picked up quickly the hints of
djing he started to build up a reputation as an open minded
and innovative dj. This reputation lead him to the residency
of Ankara's first after hours club Feedback. With his late
night- early morning sets Ilkay geathered a remarkable crowd
in Ankara and became one of the leading djs in his hometown.
The following three years he played in AnkaraΓÇÖs most
popular clubs such as ; Complex, Kashmeer, Drop, Pulse 8,
Faces, The Club 20 and hosted dj from all around the world
Jerry Bonham (USA), Dhamas & Lucas (Holland), Dimitri from
Amsterdam, Stef (Holland).
From the begining of 2000 Ilkay moved to Istanbul which is
the heart of the entertainment and night life in Turkey. He
started as a resident in club Filter and quickly became one
of the most popular djs in Istanbul. He played in most
popular clubs of Istanbul,
Recycle,Wasp,Republic,Spoon,Underground and in the
electronic music festivals H2000, Urban Bug - Bughole.
During this time he shared the cabin with most respected
progressive dj around the world Chris Fortier, Oliver Klein,
Mike Vandenberg, Jay Jay Johanson. Meanwhile he started a
Wednesday show at radio Quasar. As a dj who doesnΓÇÖt make
differences between genres these days Ilkay prefers to play
Electro House, Deep House, Disco and Tech-House. Actually
Ilkay keeps playing in major clubs of Turkey and prepares a
radio show at Turkey's most important electronic music radio
Radio Dinamo 103.8. From the early days of his djing carreer
Ilkay has been interested on production, although he hasn't
released a record so far he spends most of his time working
on new productions.
