║ Antlion are an upstart progressive focused technical death metal ║
║ band from Ottawa, Canada who came into existence in 2012. I recently ║
║ stumbled onto them and became quickly excited over what I heard on ║
║ "Hubris", their only available song at the time from their ║
║ forthcoming debut record, The Prescient. ║
║ ║
║ What's really interesting about The Prescient is its multi-faceted ║
║ approach to tech-death that seems to draw influences from a massive ║
║ swath of different groups. Once you think you have Antlion ║
║ pigeonholed, they quickly morph into an entirely different sounding ║
║ band, often multiple times in each track. As for what they sound ║
║ like overall, it brings to mind a cross-breed between the styles and ║
║ sounds of groups such as Black Crown Initiate, Fallujah, The Zenith ║
║ Passage, and Gorod. The Prescient has a lot to offer tech-death ║
║ devotees, and their mΘlange of influences swirls into an impressive ║
║ hybrid Antlion can proudly call all their own. ║
