Shlomi Zidan:
Jerusalem born & bred Zidan's passion for music started as a
kid, collecting funky & soulful music.
16 years old he began to DJ in Jerusalem's local clubs.
After Finishing his army duties Zidan relocated to Tel-Aviv,
and started collecting record for professional purposes,
some of this passion he owes to influences by the likes of
Dimity (Roxy - Amsterdam), Danny Tenaglia & Derrick Carter
to name but only few.
To make out a living back than Zidan worked as a Cafe
manager at 'Trio Cafe', a trendy place that gathered all the
who's n who's of Tel-Aviv's nightlife. Zidan was picked to
play to play at the Trio's anniversary party, and was
immediately spotted by a nightlife PR man who took him to
resident Tuesday nights at the 'Tamarz Lounge'.
Playing deep grooves ellectro funk & Funky Techno his sound
was new to the Tel-Aviv music scene at the time. Those
nights have marked Zidan's meteoric rise to recognition as
one of Israel's most innovative spinners. He was soon
playing in many of Tel-Aviv's DJ bars (Including 'Scene
fashion cafe') and celebrity private parties.
1999-winter season saw Zidan join 'Allenby 58' residents &
DJ agency. His mastery of music soon saw the appreciation of
the crowd and the music media responded: 'DJ Zidan plays
unique sets with the mastery of an artist' (Ha-ir weekly
newspaper).
Upon the opening of the new TLV venue (Allenby 58
descendant) on Feb 2001, DJ Zidan found his most natural
place as the resident of Israel's leading super club.
Zidan has played alongside Sasha, Nick Warren, Derrick
Carter, Paul Okenfold, Steve Lawler, Les Ryder, Darren
Emerson, David Morales, Sander Kleinenberg, Dimitri,
H:foundation, Carl Craig, Christian smith Tiefschwartz and
many more, as well as events such as main stage @ Tel-Aviv
Love Parade (for 250,000 person) , Berlin Love Parade, Cream
tour Israel, Dance Valley & Inner-city (Eilat),John Digweed
radio show on 100 kiss FM.
Zidan is not unknown internationally, with recent gigs in
his past at NYC (Limelight & World) & Budapest {pacha&home},
and Chemistry & Love boat in Amsterdam, Finland, Ibiza
{pacha&El devino},Rumania {home},Istanbul,
London{turnmils},Moscow & more.
His eclectic music style shifts between electro-funk with
techno sounds, some broken beats & he can even go up to
pumping, funky techno.
By the end of 2000 Zidan has began working in the Production
duo that was later on named as 'Mo-Shic & Zidan'. Along side
studio wizard Mo-Shic, together they have produced 3 singles
that were signed to Plastica (a Plastic Fantastic record
label): '2 loose la track', 'NightStalker' & '10 @ Ze'.
With Nightstalker being signed both to Jimmy Van M.'s
Bedrock compilation & Lee Burridge's NuBreed CD, The duo
have attracted the industry's attention and have started
receiving acknowledgement in world wide press:
'2 Loose la Track' was nominated track of the month By Mixer
magazine US on June '01 issue, Ministry magazine gave them a
short interview on August '01 issue.
In the last year Zidan has been developing his production
skills, learning and establishing his own technique. At
present Zidan is in the final stages of completing his first
solo project, as well as several collaboration (under the
name "whatever production") and remixes.
