'Cages' is directly adressed to you - and your ego. The track is not
about the suffering of locked up creatures, but a plea against
emotional isolation. "We live in cages to never feel alone", Simon
sings in the very first line - and is referring to the good old
principle of 'not caring, not being hurt'. But this is exactly what
you should do. Care about others. When travelling. Partying. Or even
in your relationships right now. Paradoxically, or also very
fittingly, the sound of Cages transmits the feeling of holidays,
adventures and new experiences. But there is always a little doubt -
either in Simon's voice or Stephan's melancholic violin.
