▓████▓▌ The Damer story so far Damer are four creative ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Dutch ladies. We play uncomplicated catchy lofi ▓▌
▓████▓▌ popsongs, often with a ;o). In our songs you'll ▓▌
▓████▓▌ hear an echo of at least fourty years of pop ▓▌
▓████▓▌ music.But we don't play covers, it's just us, our ▓▌
▓████▓▌ songs, our voices, our guitars, our drums, our ▓▌
▓████▓▌ percussion (all fruit flavours available!!!), our ▓▌
▓████▓▌ little white early 80's Yamaha keyboard and ▓▌
▓████▓▌ sometimes even a tinwhistle or a recorder. And of ▓▌
▓████▓▌ course a bit of our sense of humour too. ▓▌
▓████▓▌ ▓▌
▓████▓▌ In June 1998 Merit and Esther - two music loving ▓▌
▓████▓▌ (web) surfing girls - met at a party of the Metro, ▓▌
▓████▓▌ a chat environment of The Digital City, where ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Esther played with her coverband. Chatting on the ▓▌
▓████▓▌ web they decided to start their own band. In real ▓▌
▓████▓▌ life, that is. Damer was born. The girls played ▓▌
▓████▓▌ together a couple of times and did two gigs. Their ▓▌
▓████▓▌ voices and music happened to fit together very ▓▌
▓████▓▌ well. As if they'd been playing and singing ▓▌
▓████▓▌ together for years! ▓▌
▓████▓▌ ▓▌
▓████▓▌ In the meantime they were looking for a drummer and ▓▌
▓████▓▌ bassplayer. The drummer was found after a while, ▓▌
▓████▓▌ late August 99 Karin joined them, promising to find ▓▌
▓████▓▌ them a bassplayer too. Again a bit of a perfect ▓▌
▓████▓▌ match... The three of them met at a gig by their ▓▌
▓████▓▌ favourite Dutch band Daryll-Ann and within four ▓▌
▓████▓▌ weeks they already played at a festival: "Flashback ▓▌
▓████▓▌ to Excelsior". And eventually bassplayer Martine ▓▌
▓████▓▌ (whom Karin knew from one of her former bands) ▓▌
▓████▓▌ joined the group. Now Damer was complete! They ▓▌
▓████▓▌ played a few small venues in Amsterdam and Utrecht ▓▌
▓████▓▌ (the home base of Karin and Esther). Unfortunately ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Martine had to leave the band because it took up ▓▌
▓████▓▌ too much of her time. Merit and Esther played in ▓▌
▓████▓▌ "De Zwoele Stad", a local tv show. And with Karin ▓▌
▓████▓▌ they did a couple of songs for local radio. ▓▌
▓████▓▌ Luckily, Karin found a new bassplayer: in September ▓▌
▓████▓▌ 2000 Lizet joined the band. ▓▌
▓████▓▌ ▓▌
▓████▓▌ With their first CD-demo finished, Damer is still ▓▌
▓████▓▌ going strong. We're writing new songs nearly every ▓▌
▓████▓▌ week, exchanging our instruments just for fun and ▓▌
▓████▓▌ we laugh a lot. So look out for Damer, 'cause "here ▓▌
▓████▓▌ we come and we're gonna make some noise!" ▓▌
