This EP takes a different approach towards the release of ██░
free digital Hip Hop. While many choose to utilize popular ██
industry instrumentals as a platform to show their skills on ██
freestyles and mixtapes, I thought I'd put a different spin ██
on things by going back to the basics. When Rap music was in ██
it's earliest form, party rocking in the parks of the South ██
Bronx, the DJ was responsible for keeping the beat going by ██
cutting breaks in records back and forth in order to keep a ██
background for the MC to rock over. They didn't own the ██
property to those records, but they had something to flow ██
with and have fun over. ██
██
Break the Pattern follows a similar format. Instead of ██
grabbing the recent record that's getting burn on the ██
airwaves and trying to add a new spin to that, I wanted to ██
pay respects to the origins of this art and present ██
something that focused on the DJ and the crate digger as ██
well as the MC. If we're going to use something to rock over ██
and put it out into the world in an attempt to be heard, why ██
not stay true to the foundation of music that was free and ██
fun? Now 14 tracks certainly sounds like a lot of songs for ██
an EP as opposed to an album, but these songs are all ██
between 45 seconds and 2 minutes long, so the duration of ██
the project is that of an extended play. I hope y'all enjoy ██
hearing this as much as I enjoyed making it! ██
