We are the KirjoSwing choir...no, ensemble...well, um...light,
entertaining, jazzy, difficult to categorise, swing music performing
group of 20 singers who sometimes perform with a band made up of bass,
drums and keyboard and are sometimes given a boost by sax, flute and
vocal solos.
Our program includes challenging arrangements by our conductor Kari
VeisterΣ of compositions by the likes of Duke Ellington, Cole Porter,
Chick Corea and Joe Zawinuli. We also perform original arrangements
such as Manhattan TransferÆs ôA Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Squareö
and öThe Boy From New York Cityö.
We have experience in performing both locally and internationallyùfor
example in Germany, France, Estonia, Turkey and in the summer of 2003
in the Alta Pusteria region of Italy. We have also acted and sung
together with the Theatre Of Oulu, take ôThe Wonder of Milanö (based
on book ôToto il Buonoö by Cesare Zavattini) as an example.
