as with all other klein records' signings, uko put individuality at
the top of their agenda. on their self-titled debut album, the
scope of their influences is both widened and instantly channelled.
worlds of sound that seemingly contradict each other are dissolved
and sent back into sonic space as a harmonious whole - jazz meets
dub, the electronic meets the soulful, digital meets analogue.
under uko's control, this rebellious alliance of different styles
adds up to a new definition of downtempo. the voice of guest singer
tanya saedi introduces a new angle on uko's sound. next to the
vocal match of lady fuzz and oliver hangl on "mr rose", saedi adds
her soulful vocals to uko's instrumental foundations on tracks such
as "automatic", "radar", "little trix" and "mothership".
their superconductive - ep (kl016) has been acknowledged by a range
of international and austrian labels who included uko's tracks on
various compilations (cafΘ del mar, vienna scientists, delicious
tunes, lounge, fm4). uko remixed tosca and labelmates sofa surfers,
amongst others.
