"My Gate's Open, Tremble By My Side" CD (Lexicon Devil,
     Australia)
First edition of 250 released in 200 by Roaratorio on vinyl in
1999, now long-gone, but rereleased with three bonus cuts in
     2003 by Lexicon Devil.

"This amazing record, previously LP only, finally gets the
digital reissue from the until now primarily F/i oriented
Lexicon Devil label. This one's for all you turntable-less
folks and those of you who just may have missed out on this the
first time around. But even those of you with the lp might have
to pony up again, since there are 3 lengthy bonus tracks! Long,
long, long pulsing drones, with strummed guitars, thrumming and
warbling wind instruments and wheezing hurdy gurdies. Classic
Vibracathedral. At one point the mostly rhythmically free drone
moves into a brief section that's surprisingly rocking for
Vibracathedral Orchestra with drums beating out a steady 4/4
beat and lead by organ and electric guitar along with the usual
saturation of droning accompaniment before settling back into a
wash of gorgeously swelling drones once again. As always,
     totally mesmerising."
     (Aquarius Records)

"Remedying the out of print status of its original vinyl
release on Roaratorio, the Australian label Lexicon Devil has
reissued Vibracathedral Orchestra's My Gate's Open, Tremble By
My Side for those hapless or unlucky enough to have missed it
the first time round (like me). As if that were not enough of
an incentive, the reissue contains a bonus to analog-challenged
listeners: three extra tracks recorded during the same
     sessions.
The disc is splendidly recorded, capturing both the crackling
energy and detail of every note. The signature jump cutting
between tracks the band favors allows radically different
tempos to collide with one another before resolving themselves
as parts of the same pulsing continuum. The first track alone
is a monolithic 20+ minute trance-inducing drone that ranks
among the band's best work in no small part because its length
allows the band to investigate subtle hypnotic effects at a
     langorous pace.
While the contents of the original recording alone justify the
reissue, it is the extra tracks give the most interesting view
into the many sides of Vibracathedral Orchestra. The first
track is the most understated piece on the disc; a quiet synth
-y drone that gently yields to a building throb of drums and
guitar squiggles. The second is a jaunty jig that wah-wahs its
way into territory more commonly staked out by Jackie-o
Motherfucker or perhaps even Henry Flynt. The final track
begins as a sort of shimmering environmental drone with a
humming, soothing wash of drums, bells, organ and wind
instruments. The surface tension builds throughout the piece
and finally breaks free with a wail after about ten minutes
before it too crests and fades.
Many bands would kill to have left this kind of material on the
cutting room floor, but thanks to the folks at Lexicon Devil,
you can open the gates and tremble anytime you please." (steve
     rybicki for fakejazz.com - 2004 jul 30)

"The first full-length vinyl release from Vibracathedral
Orchestra features two sides of gloriously ethereal ambient-
drone epiphanies that reveal an ensemble remarkably adept at
building melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic intensity without ever
prompting the listener to think that they are repeating
themselves. Layers of insistently strummed acoustic guitars
stretch and yawn over the course of side one while tentative
bits of electric guitar sparkle in the gorgeous, slowly
enveloping mist. Side two is equally mesmerizing. Opening with
a blissfully portentous collage of organ tones and distant
flutes and woodwinds, the sensuous drift is eventually
interrupted by a stark martial cadence which drives the piece
to a mystical, eerily beautiful denouement of crystalline bells
and percussion which seems at once fragile and awe-inspiring."
     (one final note magazine)
