All the way back in 2000, New Idea Society (a
coupling of Cave In's Stephen Brodsky and Eulcid's
Mike Law) recorded and released a 4 song EP as
their maiden voyage atop the high and crowded seas
of indie-rockdom. It didn't take long for both
critics and fans to recognize the enormous wealth
of talent and potential that lie before this
magnificent vessel. Quite a feat for a recording
made hastily on a dingy basement 8-track. With
steady legs and full wind in their sails, New Idea
Society upped the artillery and entered into a
full-scale studio to slave over and eventually
complete what was to be a follow-up LP issued fresh
off the heels of the EP's success.

But then a dense fog shrouded the horizon and the
future for the record's release truly became
undecided, so to speak. New Idea Society had been
called back to port, completely de-commissioned by
their backers. Amidst murky waters, the ship sat
idle for three long years in complete limbo.

Then in late 2004, like a rogue archaeologist with
a quick bullwhip, Magic Bullet crashed onto the
scene in a death-defying attempt to set the Society
back on course. These efforts succeeded and 2005
finally sees the release of this long lost and
         highly-antipated gem.

To imply that it was "worth the wait" is to sell
this masterpiece short. With "You Are Awake Or
Asleep," Brodsky and Law have crafted ten flawless
songs of pop/rock brilliance. Enough to wipe the
smile from Brian Wilson's face. Enough for all rock
posers to claim "acid reflux" and flee the stage
that so rightly belongs to New Idea Society alone.

With a new home and a sturdy base coupled with
enormous touring plans upon the release of this
record, look for New Idea Society to quickly return
to the front of the fleet.
