Release Notes
An R&B innovator, Rosco Gordon's Sun studio era
records of the '50s, strong with his heavy
"chunk-chunk" piano style (also known as
Rosco's Rhythm), would later inspire the ska
sound in Jamaica. Just months before his death
in 2002 he finished the final sessions for the
songs collected here on No Dark In America. The
15 tracks on this collection of originals were
recorded in a variety of locations in both
Tennessee and New York and feature strong
support from several notable names in the alt.
country community. Include Brad Jones, Joe
Pisapia, Jeff Coffin (Bla Fleck) and Ken Coomer
among others on this collection of
"from-the-gut" material that reflects Gordon's
rockin' roots and bluesy soul. Rosco was the
real deal.
