│║ This is a strange new single released by Sonata ║ │
│║ Arctica, for the percentage of their fans who ║ │
│║ had always wanted to hear Tony Kakko bellow out ║ │
│║ serious, dramatic sounding lyrics about Santa ║ │
│║ Claus making evil toys by accident. Or I think ║ │
│║ that's what this is about anyway. When you hear ║ │
│║ him sing ôRun, Rudolph runö like it's this dark, ║ │
│║ dense lyrical story, it's practically priceless. ║ │
│║ Just so great. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ This is a busier, slightly more technical sound ║ │
│║ than was present on Pariah's Child, with less of ║ │
│║ a propensity for the slick pop hooks of that ║ │
│║ album and more of an orchestral, pompous sound ║ │
│║ like Unia or The Days of Grays - though still a ║ │
│║ bit smoother and more streamlined than those. ║ │
│║ Like many tracks on Days of Grays, this song ║ │
│║ starts off grand and larger than life, before ║ │
│║ fading out in its second half into a near- ║ │
│║ instrumental part. It's a very fluid style and ║ │
│║ sounds quite good and intense. The whole sound ║ │
│║ is obviously pro and sounds excellent, clear, ║ │
│║ sharp and heavy, and Tony and the boys do a ║ │
│║ great job of sucking you into this obviously ║ │
│║ goofy, ridiculous Christmas story, playing with ║ │
│║ aplomb and theatrical excess. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ The seven minute unedited song is full of ║ │
│║ chugging, dramatic rhythms and whimsical keys as ║ │
│║ the band spins their evil toys story. Tony ║ │
│║ sounds fucking great and the keys are suitably ║ │
│║ wintry. The radio edit is the same thing but ║ │
│║ with the voice-overs at the beginning and end ║ │
│║ removed and the ôorchestral versionö slows it ║ │
│║ down a pinch and cuts out the guitars. Overall, ║ │
│║ this is recommended if you want to hear a story ║ │
│║ about Santa accidentally making evil toys. Which ║ │
│║ I know for a fact that all of you do. ║ │
