Release Notes:
One of the musical finds of 2014, Dutch duo, Huminal, have lit
up melodic techno landscape with a collection of original EPs.
"Knocking on the Sky" represented the pair's debut on Proton
Music as a trio of exceptional remixes now ushers Huminal back
into the Proton spotlight. Revitalised by travels to Europe and
a production epiphany in a small Portuguese town, Tim Penner's
work over the course of 2015 has been a musical revelation.
Always considered by the musical cognoscenti as a producer of
rare talent, his work for Replug, Perspectives Digital and
Stripped, among others, has seen the Canadian's work supported
by the great and good of the DJ community. A regular on the Max
Graham "Cycles" franchise, Penner's work for Proton has also
been equally impressive. The "Pyrogen" and "The Tunnel" EPs
showed his compelling original work and it is with great
pleasure that we welcome Tim back after the success of Andre
Sobota's "Signal"in 2015. With intelligent use of Huminal's
original melodic themes, Tim Penner's additional production has
created a pulsating techno masterpiece that drives relentlessly
forward with metallic percussive effects and machine gun
sixteenth bass line. The result is a work of rare skill and
intrigue. UK born and Brazilian based producer, James Monro, is
an artist with an impressive pedigree in the music industry. A
regular behind the decks for over twenty years, Monro's
formation of the "Flying Rhino" imprint in 2005, re-launched on
Proton in 2015, has been the source of many iconic releases.
Regularly supported by the likes of Cattaneo, Babicz and
Digweed, it was an appearance on the latter's "Structures 2"
album and on Nick Warren's "Renaissance Masters Series" that
saw further success. A regular on Proton Music with both the
"Fonik" and "Nectar" original EPs, Monro now follows up the
success of Tim Penner's "On My Skin" in 2014 with a reworking
of Huminal. A driving beat forms the basis for his remix of
"Knocking on the Sky" as melodic themes inherent in the
original emerge delicately behind clever percussive rhythms and
thickly textured pads. The result is a dark, brooding affair
that bristles with dynamic energy. Pedro Mercado and Karada are
a Belgian production duo of impressive pedigree. Renowned for
individual careers, their combined production talents, since
2009's debut for Creamminal, have seen the pair continue to
supply a range of impressive original and remix material for
some of the finest modern imprints including Gold Records,
Kling Klong and Wasabi. Furthermore, a clutch of production
credits for Parquet Recordings in in 2014 and 2015 have shown
considerable production talent. Making their debut on Proton
Music, the Pedro Mercado and Karada remix of "Doomwatcher" sees
strong rhythmic flow accompanied by a beautiful re-envisioning
of Huminal's melodic lines with an innovative bass line that
twists and pitches beguilingly across its seven minute path to
dramatic and haunting effect. A music vignette that reimagines
through remixes from Tim Penner, James Monro and Pedro Mercado
and Karada sees Huminal continue to knock purposefully on the
