Notable for their eclectic musical style as much as for wearing large bear
heads, Teddybears were formed in Sweden in the early 90s. Although the
group - whose members also direct videos, short films, and commercials -
takes on a variety of genres including electronic, dance, rock, and reggae,
Teddybears' original incarnation was as a grindcore band. Members Patrik
Arve and Joakim Ahlund (who is also guitarist for the Caesars) had met in
art school in Stockholm, soon adding Ahlund's brother Klas on guitar.
Teddybears are now releasing their new album "Rock On". The band has turned
up their retro-future notches to the max, and created a heavy hybrid of
dance hall, rock and electronic music. The album was created during
recording sessions in Kingston, Stockholm, London, and features special
appearances by the likes of Beenie Man, Cutty Ranks, Ninja Man as well as
ex-Boyz In Da Hood member Gorilla Zoe. "Rock On" is the long-awaited
follow-up to 2010's stylistic "Devil's Music", and cements Teddybears as
one of the most influential music creators of our current time.
