Howard Jones was one of the defining figures of mid-80s
synth pop. Jones' music merged the technology-intensive
sound of new wave with the cheery optimism of hippies and
late-60s pop. Jones racked up a string of hits in the mid-
and late 80s before he retreated into being a cult figure in
the 90s.
"Look Mama" was released as the second single from Jones'
1985 album "Dream Into Action". The song reached #10 in the
UK Singles Chart. It was not released as a single in the US,
but a different mix to those issued in the UK was included
on the US-only remix album "Action Replay". Fun fact is that
the introduction to the song features some spoken dialogue
sampled from the 1974 film Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore.
WEA 12-inch maxi-single with some nice treats for all New
Wave and Jones fans. "Look Mama" is featured in an extended,
9+ minutes mix b/w "Dream Into Action" recorded live at the
Manchester Apollo in 1985, and the exclusive recording
"Learning How To Love" which was released as a single in
South Africa only.
