Safety is the ability to control hazards intelligently.

Food for thought:
Home may be a place to escape the dangers of the outside world, but a new
report shows dangers abound on the home front as well -- causing as many
as 20,000 deaths, 7 million disabling injuries, and 20 million hospital
trips in the U.S. each year. Despite those staggering statistics, more
than half of American adults surveyed say they can't think of anything
they should or would do in the coming year to make their homes safer or to
prevent unintentional injuries. û Web MD

As a safety professional with decades of experience in safety I found
Wikipedia's definition of a hazard suitable.

- A hazard is a situation that poses a level of threat to life, health,
property, or environment. Most hazards are dormant or potential, with only
a theoretical risk of harm; however, once a hazard becomes "active", it
can create an emergency. A hazardous situation that has come to pass is
called an incident. Hazard and possibility interact together to create
risk.

Seeing and Identifying and prioritizing hazard risks are the first steps.

Seeing, identifying, and prioritizing hazards in your daily life where
perhaps you do not have the guidance of a safety program, is hard to do.
Being alert to your environment's hazards takes practice and skill. This
course teaches you that skill, and trains you to use it in your everyday
life.

All successful and professionally designed safety plans follow the same
framework. This course lays out this framework clearly and gives you a
powerful tool to see potential hazards early, and be alert to your
surroundings.

No previous experience is necessary.

This course has 1.5 hours of packed information based on a proven safety
system used world wide.
