Liam Swarbrick, one of the rising Producers on the UK scene notching
over 25 quality releases over the last few years. Originating from
Manchester Liam caught the House music bug early and has been DJ'ing
across Manchester and the North West for the last 11 years.
Liam's musical style ranges from the classic Chicago traxx to the
latest European deep house sounds. He began the transition into
record producer several years ago, teaching himself how to work with
studio equipment and his first release came out on Glasgow
Underground recordings after much interest from Kevin McKay.
He started out as a DJ at the now defunct Vogue nightclub in
Manchester and was a frequent guest around the city and at clubs
around the northwest of England. Liam was also one of the selected
DJ's at the big Cities In The Park in Manchester in 1994 alongside
headlining acts like The Happy Mondays.
From 1995 Liam began promoting his own parties @ Sankeys Soap and
was the first person to book DJ Sneak outside of London. More
recently Liam was the resident @ Program, Jam nightclub playing
alongside visiting DJ's like Kerri Chandler, Crispin J Glover,
Camacho and many others. As with many DJ's Liam was interested in
Production and started to learn this in 1995, mainly teaching himself
how to program beats and use samplers. His first full release came in
1998 entitled "LHK Productions Danger Zone EP" on Glasgow underground
after sending a demo the label owner Kevin McKay, His first EP did
very well gaining support from the likes of Derrick Carter and Andrew
Wetherall and the successful relationship with GU has continued with
LHK having released a total of 7 twelve inches. Liam has also
released tracks on Ralph Lawson's 20-20 Vision imprint with his third
release forthcoming over the next couple of months. Also last year he
signed an EP up to Canadian house label 83 west which helped expose
his name in North America and he is set to continue working with the
label in 2001.
In 2002 LHK has been forging even more links with America with
releases out on westcoast imprints Tango and its sister label Detour,
these labels are the babies of Tony Hewitt who is a pioneer of the
west coast house sound, also LHK has begun working with Dizzy's
Doubledown Recordings and also the LA based label Straylight. With
more projects in the works and continued production for all the
mentioned labels LHK's sound is not to be pigeonholed to one
paticular sound, just enjoy.
LHK's tracks have been supported by many of the leading DJ's across
the globe, ranging from Tony Humphries and Kerri Chandler, to Ashley
Beedle and Jori Hulkkonen, his music is not pigeonholed to one
particular style, he produces and makes music that he loves.
