  in head first with Retribution Body's blooming black mass of acoustic drone
  alchemy, 'Aokigahara'. Known to his pals and employers at Boston's Berklee
  College as world class acoustic technician Matthew Azevedo, Retribution
  Body is the very occasional moniker for his musical exploits, revealing a
  rarified grasp of low end frequency manipulation on a par with the likes of
  Earth, Sunn 0))) or Phill Niblock. Specialising in architectural acoustic
  simulations - an increasingly crucial if discreet field of practice in
  modern construction and scientific research - with a side-line as a
  mastering engineer, Azevedo applies his incredibly fine-tuned technical
  perceptions to a pair of enveloping, transcendent recordings in
  'Aokigahara'. Without a computer in sight, he isolates and coaxes
  consumptive waves of sub-harmonic bass pressure from an array of pianos and
  guitars recorded in the Fisher Recital Hall, Lowell, MA, using a
  combination of the venue's own resonance and his expert microphone
  placement to capture a shadowplay of abstract figures, directing the ear's
  lens from booming sub-bass to the electrifying crackle of stressed
  distortion and flights of vapourous keys. As a listening experience it owns
  your attention thru sheer physical presence at suitable volumes, morphing
  your proximity into a reverberating representation of a concert hall which
  appears to be playing itself. Best Type release in a while this - massive
  recommendation.
