│║ Speaking of traditional Metal from Hamburg, so ║ │
│║ in addition to bands like HELLOWEEN or GAMMA RAY ║ │
│║ also PARAGON shall be mentioned. The team from ║ │
│║ the city on the Elbe has now exceeded the proud ║ │
│║ seniority of 25 years and already proved with ║ │
│║ their last album "Force Of Destruction" that can ║ │
│║ be expected with it in spite of personnel ║ │
│║ changes or other ailments still. On their new ║ │
│║ album "Hell Beyond Hell" the band is celebrating ║ │
│║ not only the quarter of a century, but on top of ║ │
│║ that the return to their label Remedy Records ║ │
│║ and reuniting with original guitarist Martin ║ │
│║ Christian. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ PARAGON have with their sound created a clear ║ │
│║ identity over the last two and a half decades ║ │
│║ and then on "Hell Beyond Hell" latest abundantly ║ │
│║ clear with the onset of the vocals of frontman ║ │
│║ Andreas Babushkin, with which band it has to do ║ │
│║ the audience here. Nevertheless, it is possible ║ │
│║ to hamburgers on her new album, skillfully her ║ │
│║ formula - and sometimes dramatically - to change ║ │
│║ to push without diehard fans on the head: So the ║ │
│║ board waived any different than its predecessor ║ │
│║ on a sprawling intro and finds the ║ │
│║ programmatically titled " Rising Force "an ║ │
│║ incredibly rabid entry. Already on nested ║ │
│║ Mainriff shows that PARAGON have evolved their ║ │
│║ sound for "Hell Beyond Hell" audible, although ║ │
│║ the distinctive voice and typical of the ║ │
│║ Hanseatic harmonies ensure that every fan of the ║ │
│║ band feels at home immediately. Overall falls ║ │
│║ "Hell Beyond Hell" over long distances ║ │
│║ significantly darker and a whole corner ║ │
│║ impetuous than the previous "Force Of ║ │
│║ Destruction" from the band, especially in songs ║ │
│║ like "Meat Train" or "Buried In Blood" toying ║ │
│║ even with the Thrash Metal , On the other side ║ │
│║ then are epic, large-scale with seasons beyond ║ │
│║ the eight minutes songs like "Heart Of The ║ │
│║ Black" or "Devil's Waiting Room" where tread the ║ │
│║ lads from the coast in places completely ║ │
│║ different way than in the past and yet typical ║ │
│║ riffs and choruses embed - PARAGON therefore ║ │
│║ know how to surprise even 25 years after ║ │
│║ founding still and keep their sound fresh. One ║ │
│║ or the other may have to get used to a few of ║ │
│║ the ideas on "Hell Beyond Hell" only, but of ║ │
│║ course the basic recipe of the band on album ║ │
│║ number eleven the same, and so are also evident ║ │
│║ again usual driving riffs and big choruses often ║ │
│║ remains gooseflesh infectious melodies and truly ║ │
│║ stunning lead guitars together. Apart from the ║ │
│║ mentioned songs this results in typical PARAGON ║ │
│║ numbers like "Stand Your Ground" or the ass cool ║ │
│║ biker anthem "Thunder In The Dark" and the ║ │
│║ rock-tinged title track, where embark the ║ │
│║ hamburger on the traces of ACCEPT. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Four years is a long time and obviously there ║ │
│║ have understood PARAGON, to use them ║ │
│║ effectively. With "Hell Beyond Hell" make men ║ │
│║ not only their reputation as ardent supporters ║ │
│║ of the true Hanseaten steel all honor, but do it ║ │
│║ on top of that to circumvent some clichΘs and to ║ │
│║ open up their familiar sound new facets. ║ │
│║ Longtime fans may need a run longer until "Hell ║ │
│║ Beyond Hell" fully developed because the ║ │
│║ hamburgers here rarely quote their past and ║ │
│║ instead boarded full steam ahead into the ║ │
│║ future, however, it is then all the more ║ │
│║ impressive, how much the troop since "Force of ║ │
│║ Destruction "has developed. ║ │
