frankfurt based producer and dj gabriel le mar presents the next
step: having received the award ôrecord of the monthö for his
innovative solo albums "gab's lab" und "gab's gift" in raveline
(1999) and keyboard magazine (2000), he already presents his
latest project banned-x. banned-x in brief is a live project, as
well as well as studio project. it's a band. it's not a band.
banned-x combines the pure, physical energy of digital club and
dancefloor sounds with the hypnotic rhythms and the power of
vocals from dub and reggaemusic. the album ôsongs an' traxö,
produced in gabriel's ôlabö-studio, can be described as colourful
culture clash, introducing multitalent songwriter and producer
george din (frankfurt/m) and vocalists jah meek (jamaica) and
markie j. (uk). heavy dub mixing, deep basslines and riddims from
all continents meet classical song structures, creating moods and
vibrations far offside from style-clichΘes.
global mix. going beyond traditional band-isms, banned-x act as a
freely organized convention of masters. the basic goal of the 4
musicians who come from jamaica, the u.k, greece and germany, is
to push musical styles, such as dub, reggae, house und techno
towards a fusion of club ôtracksö and classical ôsongö-writing.
george din's comment: ôvocals and songwriting are not a standard
gimmick, but ways to intensifying our tracks both emotionally and
meaningwise. we love the physical power of dancefloor-styles.
banned-x is all about combining these styles with a message that
goes beyond those well known ômove your assö - orders.
