│║ My beloved SATAN released one of the most ║ │
│║ impressive comeback albums in the spring of ║ │
│║ 2013; ôLife Sentenceö had all the mastery and ║ │
│║ charisma needed for a resurrected NWOBHM outfit ║ │
│║ and to show its teeth to the newer generation. ║ │
│║ Embarking on a US tour to celebrate this ║ │
│║ release, the quintet from Great Britain decided ║ │
│║ to record and release a live album entitled ║ │
│║ ôTrail Of Fire - Live In North Americaö and itÆs ║ │
│║ great news to see/hear that this is a splendid ║ │
│║ live recording capturing the full essence of the ║ │
│║ band. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Needless to say, nearly the whole ôCourt In The ║ │
│║ Actö (1983) monumental LP is presented here, ║ │
│║ along with enough tracks from the 2013 CD plus ║ │
│║ both songs off the scarce 1982 single. The band ║ │
│║ seems to be in fine mood and the musicianship is ║ │
│║ of the highest scale. The guitars spit fire and ║ │
│║ the riffage is immense, while few words can ║ │
│║ describe how the dual-leads sound! The ║ │
│║ Ramsey/Tippins duet takes no prisoners and is ║ │
│║ backed adequately by the pounding bass/drums ║ │
│║ patterns by the English/Taylor duo. All these ║ │
│║ guarantee you will have enough headbanging ║ │
│║ moments as long as the show lasts; fifteen ║ │
│║ tracks are enough for a band that decides to ║ │
│║ present tracks from only two albums (the later ║ │
│║ 80s discography is totally neglected). Brian ║ │
│║ Ross, needless to say again, is the maestro in ║ │
│║ these recordings. His voice reaches sky-high ║ │
│║ notes when requested and his total performance ║ │
│║ is just one step lower than being flawless. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ The sound is excellent - not perfect - and ║ │
│║ overall captures the energy of SATAN onstage. ║ │
│║ Hence, ôTrail Of Fire - Live In North Americaö ║ │
│║ can be regarded as a nice companion to fans of ║ │
│║ these legends. As for metalheads not familiar ║ │
│║ with the music of SATAN in advance, please open ║ │
│║ up your ears (and wallet!) and buy both ôCourt ║ │
│║ In The Actö and ôLife Sentenceö or die. This ║ │
│║ band has influenced enough Heavy and Power and ║ │
│║ Speed and Thrash Metal bands you canÆt even ║ │
