uwe lehr aka razoof started his career as a drummer in cologne's
growing music-scene of the 80s. playing rock, worldmusic, jazz and
hip hop breaks in numerous bands, it was the reggae riddim he was
always in love with.
in the 90s razoof played with reggae artists like don abi & the
high voltage band, mr. gentleman & the killin riddim section and
the bantu-crew feat. patrice.
in 1992, razoof began deejaying in cologne's club/bar m20,
starting out with dancehall-reggae and old school hip hop.
meanwhile spinning his vinyls in different clubs in cologne, he
changed to more electronic beats in the mid 90s. between 2001 ad
2003 he did dj-gigs in germany, austria, switzerland an the usa.
today, razoof is playing a riddim selection between downbeat,
reggae, dub and house. he is now resident dj at the global player
party at stadtgarten cologne.
beginning of 2000, razoof started his own label nesta recordings
to create a platform for his vision of reggaelized dancefloor
productions. after the first six 12inch vinyls, razoof's debut
album "montego bay" was released in july 2002, featuring most of
the instant nesta-classics in the mix. the track "lambs bread"
from nesta 005 was also re-released on the stereo deluxe label in
july 2002, containing remixes by kieser + velten and the strike
boys. in summer 2003 razoof released two new 12inches called "new
star" (feat. don abi) and "kurtis b. meets the rockers uptown". in
autumn 2003, the track "universial love" was released on jah love
recordings, a dubhouse label from san francisco. razoof's second
album "soul aquarium" will be released in spring 2004, featuring a
selection of soulful downbeats, magic dubs and uplifting house
tracks.
