Known as Resound, Krii as well as one half of the
Causes and Forces production duo - lipo Karkkainen is
an artist, producer and DJ hailing from Tampere,
Finland. Having been involved with music since early
age, his ambition has led him from demolishing his
mom's kettles with kitchen hardware as a kid to
establish his sound in the forefront of electronic
music today.
It's been a long journey from playing different
traditional finnish instruments back in 80's to having
a hardcore punk band in the 90's and now doing the
rounds as an international DJ. Ever since he first
started creating electronic music back in 1995,
Resound has been living, eating and breathing it.
Futuristic and moody soundscapes, deep bass, big echos
and sophisticated beatwork are characteristic to his
production style. Innovation and versality are key
words as for Resound the only way to do it right is to
keep things interesting. That he feels is his
obligation to both the listener and to himself.
The hard working man he is, lipo has often taken on
the role of producer or mixing engineer helping many
different artists and bands achieve their visions. He
also has years of experience in doing music and sound
for films, short movies, animations, radio and TV
commercials, DVDs, jingles, multimedia as well as
recording and mixing bands in studio and live. He's
also been getting his hands dirty with "Tokio Dawn
Recordings" label ever since 1998.
After having studied music, sound technology and media
for 4 years and earning bachelor's degree in bussiness
administration, lipo is now concentrating on music
production and DJing. Always busy in the studio, he
has also established himself as a solid and fresh
sounding remixer with acclaimed remixes in his bag for
artists and bands such as ASC, Dephazz, Blaktroniks,
Bergheim 34 and more. His own music has been remixed
by the likes of Alpha Omega, ASC, Electrosoul System,
Graphic and Paradox amongst others. With music has
been released worldwide on labels like Camino Blue
(GER), Counter Intelligence (NL), Covert Operations
(UK), Klang Elektronik (GER), Leet Recordings (SWE),
Merck Records (USA), Moving Records (GER), Source
Records (GER), Tokyo Dawn Records (GER) and Warm
Communications (USA) as well as releases in the
pipeline for several others, Resound is set to make an
unmistakable mark on the global drum&bass and
electronic music scene.
